Fic and Meta Masterlist

diary red ribbon
Masterlist of all the Doctor Who meta-analyses and all the Doctor Who fanfiction I've written. Meta is listed in order of episode. Fiction is listed first of all by character or pairing,  then within that, chronologically with my most recent work at the top.

Meta

Doctor Who Meta

The Crash of the Byzantium - The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone; River as Goddess, greek mythology, journeys through the Underworld.

The Pandorica and the Underworld - The Pandorica Opens; journeying in the Underworld, the World Tree

Death, Life and Time - The Big Bang; Polarity and Unification

The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe analysis - The Doctor as Trickster God, World Tree symbolism, Madge's fate as a metaphor for Ascension, parallels with the River Song story.

The Eye Within - Asylum of the Daleks; eye symbolism and the theme of perception, mirroring, the Underworld, the monstering of Oswin.

One of These Things is Not Like the Other - Dinosaurs on a Spaceship; mirroring, juxtaposition and opposition, more eye symbolism, a conflicted Doctor, looking glasses and fourth wall breaches, the theme of fertility, 11's relationship with the Ponds.

Dark Mirror - A Town Called Mercy; recurring themes and motifs in the start of series7; birth/sacrifice/resurrection and the saviour God; the Monster within and the Doctor's dark mirror; why the 11th is lost.

Two Worlds - The Power of Three; Amy and Rory's choice as a manifestation of the Monomyth/Hero's Journey; Eggs, Christmas and Bulbs (again); what lies on the other side of the Looking Glass; the power of numbers; other recurring motifs and symbolism.

The Freedom to Live - The Angels Take Manhattan; the episode as the final stage of Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey; Doctor Who as myth; River Song's role; the use of the X symbol, lightbulbs and eggs; mirroring, looking glasses and metaphors; juxtaposition of opposites; parallels with other stories.

The Memory of Snow - The Snowmen; Clara the living fairytale; reversal and unexpectedness; mirroring and memory; the Trickster; Moff's pet theme of Above/Below; the question.

Run, You Clever Boy - The Bells of Saint John; Nursery rhymes and celtic myth, the Question and the Quest; the mirror and the web; the forest and leaves. And some chairs.

The Soul is Made of Stories - The Rings of Akhaten; Who as a self-aware modern myth; World Tree symbolism; fruits of the Otherworld; the contradiction of Clara; the Doctor as a Sun God.

The Songs of the Red Snow - Cold War; Clara's journey as Joseph Campbell's Monomyth; Fire and Water/Death and Rebirth; the Doctor's monster in the mirror; the power of (River?) Song; some speculation about where things might be going.

Not Everything Ends. Not Love. Not Always. - Hide; the World Tree; the Forest as the Afterlife; love and death; the Hero on the Road of Trials; mortality; character mirrors; why River Song is everywhere.

The Meeting With the Goddess - Journey to the Centre of the Tardis; the Hero meets the Goddess in the monomyth reading of the show; The World Tree is blatant and the Tardis is a Goddess; Clara's lessons about Death continue; the Doctor is in denial and his role as mentor is compromised; Clara is most certainly not an android. And lots of other stuff.

The Bell Jar - The Crimson Horror; the scientific and literary bell jar; silence and sound; Welsh Saints, mistletoe and Sir Gawain; subversion of symbolism; why Clara and the Doctor are frozen on their journey;  monster mirrors; eye symbolism;

The Empire Never Ended - Nightmare in Silver; In which there is dualism, Zoroastrianism and the Goddess Isis; the Doctor is a Magician, Emperor and the Monster in the mirror; the theme park is the cauldron of rebirth; Philip K Dick's Empire never ended; and there is form out of nothingness.

The Fate of All is Always Dust - The Name of the Doctor -
In which the use of words, and names are very important; there is a big difference between knowledge/information/wisdom/myth; the Akashic Records, the Astral Plane and the Golden Ratio make a mystical appearance; there is a lot to say about form/emptiness, what the soul is made of and how things are more than the sum of their parts; the Doctor can never escape his shadow; the Tardis is the castle at the heart of the enchanted forest; and the Doctor himself becomes the World Tree.
